Programs: Youth Development Program

Youth overwhelmingly say
they need more safe places to
hang out together.

Program Description

YDP serves youth ages 15-21 years old who are involved with the foster care system and/or referred by Vermont’s Department of Children and Families (DCF). Using research-based tools to assess Independent Living Skills, staff identifies areas in which youth need additional knowledge and skills, and collaborates with DCF Caseworkers and family/team members to ensure that youth receive the necessary services and supports for a smooth and successful transition to independent living.

YDP services include: family connections; assistance in accessing area resources (e.g., job training, counseling, education and healthcare); case management; advocacy; life skills instruction; financial support; and emotional support.
